weight-to-height ratios.
- Underweight: BMI is less than 18.5
- Normal weight: BMI is 18.5 to 24.9
- Overweight: BMI is 25 to 29.9

The Limitations of BMI
While BMI is a widely used screening tool, it's important to understand its constraints. BMI does
not distinguish between muscle mass and body fat. Athletes with high muscle mass may be
categorized as "overweight" despite having very low body fat percentages.
Health Implications
Maintaining a BMI within the "Normal" range is associated with lower risks of cardiovascular
disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. However, health is multi-factorial, and BMI
should be viewed alongside other metrics like body fat percentage and waist circumference.
