Understanding Relative Strength
In Resistance Training, absolute strength is how much weight you can move. However, relative strength is how strong you are compared to your own body mass. The Wilks Score was developed to level the playing field, allowing a 70kg lifter to be compared fairly against a 120kg lifter.
Why Powerlifters Use Wilks
In powerlifting, the person with the highest Wilks score is considered the strongest "pound-for-pound" athlete. It is a vital metric for tracking your efficiency and ensuring that your Hypertrophy is functional and beneficial to your total lifts.
